Josiah grew up in a tumultuous family environment marked by his parents' constant conflicts. He found solace in music, which became his emotional outlet. Despite excelling academically, he was disillusioned with the cutthroat and uninspiring nature of the music industry. He eventually settled into a Junior Artist Manager position, which left him feeling unfulfilled.

One day, a friend introduced him to an immersive virtual reality game known as Scribe's Legacy. The game allowed him to use a special weapon called a songblade to manipulate emotions through discordant melodies. This experience reignited Josiah's passion for music, and he assumed the name Somnus. Using his love for music, he controlled the symphony of battle.
